About

Meet Nikki

"I don't think it's all in your head. I think I can help you." Those words, spoken by my first chiropractor in a small community in Minnesota when I was 26, were the beginning of hope for me. And, though I didn't know it at the time, it was also the beginning of my journey into the world of holistic health while I was still at the beginning of my architecture career. I continued to work as an architect for nearly a decade before meeting my husband online and moving to coastal Virginia in 2018. I became a stepmom to two amazing boys and then we had two more boys, which makes for a very active household!

I stepped back from architecture and interior design when I became a mom, which is when I began to go deeper in my holistic health education with my Level 2 Integrative Health Practitioner certification. That education began mostly out of necessity as we weren't getting the help and support we wanted inside the traditional medical system, and our pursuits with naturopathic and functional medicine were hit or miss. But that journey has blossomed into healing and empowerment, and I hope to be able to share that blessing with others. I've continued to add to that education with Craniosacral Fascial Therapy training and additional courses in reviewing bloodwork from a functional lens, neurotransmitters and methylation and other books.

The more I've moved into a root-cause foundational health approach, the more I've seen healing take place for myself, my kids, and my husband. We've journeyed through severe acne, debilitating fatigue, rheumatoid arthritis, PANS/PANDAS, GI issues, food sensitivities, respiratory difficulties, mold, and more. Why the Knitted Rooster?

For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother's womb.

I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.

Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.

Psalm 139:13-14

The Rooster is a tribute to my mom because this journey that I've been on is in many ways a continuation of her own health journey through many surgeries, pain and grieving of losses. The rooster was a meaningful symbol to my mom as part of her own faith journey of trusting the Lord. As a child I remember our kitchen was teeming with various rooster decorations, so I've always associated roosters with her.

In Christianity, there is a history of rich symbolism with the rooster. As a symbol, it can be seen as a call to repentance. (Matthew 26:75). It can also be a symbol of resurrection. The rooster's habit of greeting the dawning of each new morning represents the Christian's victory of light over darkness and triumph of life over death.

Remember, God is the master Architect and Designer of our bodies. He designed our bodies with marvelous healing abilities. Secondly, as the rooster heralds each sunrise, we are reminded that the Lord's mercies are new every morning (Lamentations 3:22-24). In Christ, there is grace and forgiveness available to us each day.

There is always hope.
